Avalon at Maclay, Inc. is a planned urban development (PUD) created in 1997, with an entrance from Maclay Boulevard. The Avalon neighborhood consists of three main streets, Old Village Road, Hidden Timbers Place, and Silver Moon Drive; two side streets, Willow Grove Way and Cameron Crossing; and seven cul-de-sacs including Julie Bug Court and Fern Hill Court. Along these streets are 127 single-family detached homes of various architectural features with 3 or 4 bedrooms, 2 baths and double garages on less than ½-acre homesites. One of the most favorable aspects of this neighborhood is the location: north of I-10 and south of Maclay Gardens State Park, just west of Thomasville Road and behind Village Commons Shopping Center. Along with nearby schools and churches, this location is a short commute to downtown and convenient to Tallahassee’s best shopping and restaurants. Avalon at Maclay is a quiet and peaceful neighborhood, with attractive landscaping and wellkept yards and homes. Walking is a popular activity along Avalon’s sidewalks and also on two pathways, one to the north that goes down through a wooded area near a pond and comes out on Millers Bridge Road and another walking path to the south that enters the parking lot of nearby office buildings across the street from Premier Health Club. This neighborhood of homeowners and some renters has a diverse range comprised of families with children, couples, singles and senior citizens. As a Planned Urban Development, the Avalon neighborhood was set up with a Homeowners Association and comprehensive covenants regarding homesites. The old saying goes, “Good fences make good neighbors!” and, although not all Avalon homes have fences in this case, good homeowners’ covenants can make for good neighbors! The Avalon’s Homeowners Association Board meets quarterly and consists of three elected positions, President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer. The HOA is managed by Stokes Association Management, LLC., who collects annual dues from homeowners and invites all to attend the Annual HOA Meeting and dinner. The main objective of this HOA is enhance the quality of life and community for all homeowners of Avalon at Maclay.
